The first step in sharpening reamers is to sort into families of like part numbers. The reamer is than pre-inspected looking for damage that would impact the sharpened tools performance. Margin, build-up, run-out, and shank damage are examples of things we look for. The diameter is inspected to see if the finish tool will meet the print requirements. The reamers are than cleaned and sharpened between centers if required. Lip height equal to or less than .0005. The sharpen process is closely monitored and the reamers individual inspected at the machine. Finial inspection is done in our well equipped QC lab.
